Going Ga-Ga

Ben and I are currently at New Life Island as I write this blog. He is the speaker for the week which has many many perks.

1. We get an all expense paid week away on an island
2. I don't have to cook
3. I don't have to clean
4. I get to hear Ben preach 2 times a day
5. I can relax in the ways that I so choose
6. We will enjoy two large roaring campfires
7. I get to experience in part the functioning camp life that turned Ben's heart for ministry.

Ben is also helping out with worship which is not a surprise.

I've enjoyed using my camera this week to capture things that catch my eye.

I was also able to witness the ceremonial kissing of the moose, this week. Every day when the mail gets handed out, and these kids get lots of mail. . . even on the first day. The recipient must perform the task written out by the writer of the letter. Mostly it's "kiss the moose". But occasionally it's "skip around the dining hall saying, "I love my mother!"", or "sing "you are my sunshine"", or "walk the plank" (ie jump in the pool, now).

One of the new attractions at the camp this year is a game called "Ga-Ga". It's a game played in Israel that gets quite fierce and competitive.

Basic rules:

-if you get hit with the ball form the knee down you're out
-if you hit the ball out of the octagon, you (and whoever it touched on the way) are out
-if you hit the ball, the ball has to hit something (a person, or the wall) before you can hit it again, or you are . . . . . (gasp) out.

The number of people will then get dwindled down until there is one remaining winner. It's fast and addicting. Here are some action shots I took before I started getting into the action myself.

Surprisingly I won my second game. But as I watched on, I found that it was not always the best player that lasted until the end. Sometimes we survive because we are not a threat and no one is determined to take us out right away. As for PB, he was usually an early target - perhaps because they love him already.
