Last month Ben and I started taking a Monday evening Theology class taught by his Dad. I was excited and nervous at the same time. Fearing that most of it would be over my head, but looking forward to learning more about God's Word.
It has truly been an amazing experience and I have fallen more and more in love with the Word of God. Each week I walk away amazed at the intricacies, infalability, and tightly woven truths throughout. I'm so glad that I'm in the class, and have not been lost for one moment. I praise God for helping me to understand through, I now know is the illumination by the Holy Spirit.
Occasionally I may write about high points and truths here on the blog. Click the "Theology" Label to see them all.A few weeks ago we were studying the Trinity and learning key passages and themes that gave hard evidence that there is in fact a Trinity, and how we know there are 3 persons to this God we serve. . .etc.
There are several places and types of evidence we see in the Bible, but the most interesting to me was simply God's title, Elohim. The very word means "God" or "gods" - as this title for God is in fact a plural word (suffix "im" gives it its plurality). We see Elohim in Genesis 1:1 and it is obvious by the pronouns used in Genesis 1:26.
Deut. 6:4 says, "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
This translates to "The Jehovah our Elohim, is one Jehovah."
"one" here is more descriptive in the Hebrew. The word used here is plural, as if we were to say, "one dozen" or "one class".
Little things like this make me shake my head in wonder during class. I praise Elohim for His Word rich in instruction and truth for us - if we would only study more.
